Skillify LLC ("Skillify," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal data. By using the Skillify mobile application and related services (the "Platform"), you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

•   Account registration data: name, email address, profile photo

•   Skills, bio, and profile information you add

•   Listing content you create

• Messages and communications sent through the in-app chat

•   Reviews and ratings you submit

•   Support requests and feedback

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device information: device type, operating system, unique device identifiers

• Usage data: features accessed, listings viewed, session activity

• Push notification tokens (via Firebase Cloud Messaging / FCM)

• Session timing data used to calculate XP (duration in minutes)

1.3 Information from Third Parties

•   Authentication data from Firebase Authentication (Google sign-in or email/password)

•   Payment information is processed by RevenueCat, Stripe, Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) directly; Skillify does not store your payment card details

2. How We Use Your Information

•   To create and manage your account

•   To match you with nearby users based on your location and listed skills

•   To calculate and process XP transactions based on session duration

•   To send push notifications for session bookings, confirmations, messages, and platform updates

•   To enable in-app chat between users

•   To display reviews and reputation signals to other users

•   To enforce our Terms of Service, Code of Conduct, and community safety policies

•   To detect and prevent fraud, XP manipulation, and abuse

•   To improve the Platform through aggregate, anonymized analytics

•   To communicate with you about your account, policy updates, and (with your consent) promotional content

3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 With Other Users

Your public profile information (name, photo, skills, reviews, XP-based reputation indicators) is visible to other users within your region. Your precise location is never shared with other users; only approximate proximity is used for matching.

3.2 With Service Providers

We share data with third-party service providers who help us operate the Platform:

•   Google Firebase: authentication, real-time database (Firestore), push notifications (FCM)

•   Backendless: backend database and cloud code processing

•   Apple / Google: app distribution, in-app purchases, device push notification delivery

•   Mailchimp: waitlist and pre-launch communications (first name and email addresses only)

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person or to prevent fraud or illegal activity.

3.4 Business Transfers

If Skillify is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change via in-app notice or email.

3.5 We Do Not Sell Your Data

Skillify does not sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal, fraud prevention, or safety purposes (such as records of strikes issued, moderation actions taken, or XP transaction history).

5. Location Data

Skillify does not collect, access, or use your device's GPS or precise location data, and the app does not request location permissions. The 25-mile matching radius is calculated using the address you provide during account registration, not real-time location tracking.

6. Children's Privacy

Skillify is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at privacy@skillifyapp.org.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Correction

You may access and update your account information at any time through the app's profile settings.

7.2 Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account by using the in-app account deletion option or by contacting privacy@skillifyapp.org. Upon deletion, your profile will be removed and your personal data will be deleted or anonymized within 30 days, subject to the exceptions noted in Section 4.

7.3 Notification Preferences

You may manage push notification preferences through the app's Notification Settings screen. You may also disable notifications at the device OS level.

7.4 California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of any sale of personal information (we do not sell personal data). To exercise these rights, contact privacy@skillifyapp.org.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission, Firebase security rules, and role-based access controls. No security system is impenetrable; we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
