Skillify was born from a simple truth: everyday help shouldn’t always come with a price tag. From fixing a leaky faucet to tutoring for an exam, we all have needs — and skills to share — that don’t fit neatly into the world of hiring professionals.
As living costs rise, many people feel stuck between doing everything alone or paying for services they can’t always afford. Skillify is here to offer a third option: community exchange.
With Skillify, you can:
Earn XP when you share your time and skills.
Spend XP to get the help you need — no money required.
Celebrate your contributions with badges that showcase your expertise, whether on your profile, resume, or even merchandise.
What started as an idea among friends — “if this app existed, I could’ve earned XP today” — is now growing into a movement. Skillify is launching in Charleston, SC, with the vision of making support accessible, fun, and community-powered everywhere.
A note from the Founder
The idea for Skillify grew out of everyday moments with friends. Someone would fix a car issue, help around the house, or spend time tutoring — and while the help was gladly given, it often felt like there should be something in return. Cash between friends can feel awkward, even “cheap,” and not everyone can reciprocate in the same way when the tables are turned.
With Skillify, those favors don’t have to be free or forgotten. Friends can now thank each other with XP — not money — and those points can be used later for the help they need most. It keeps the generosity flowing, without the pressure of paying or keeping score.
I created Skillify to make this exchange simple, fun, and community-powered. To help people get support without money, to recognize contributions, and to strengthen connections in the process.
Charleston is just the beginning — and I’d love for you to be part of Skillify’s journey from day one. My vision is for Skillify to become the go-to platform for people everywhere to exchange help without money.
